Meta’s Threads to Introduce ‘Today’s Topics’ Feature, Unveiling Current Trends
When Meta’s Threads debuted last year to compete with X (formerly known as Twitter), the user experience was very simple. It lacked tags, a web-based interface, and the ability to independently delete a Threads profile, requiring users to delete their entire Instagram profile. However, Meta has been responsive to user feedback and has gradually introduced various features to the app thanks to its growing user base.
Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Threads is testing a new feature that will allow users to view trending topics on the platform. Similar to X’s Trending section, Threads now includes this functionality. Zuckerberg shared the news in a Threads post, stating, “A small test of today’s top topics on Threads in the US was released. We’ll roll it out to more countries and languages as we get it tuned…”
In addition to Zuckerberg’s announcement, Instagram head Adam Mosseri added that this feature, called “Today’s Topics,” will appear on the search page and in the For You feed. Mosseri also revealed that the ranking of the section’s content will be determined by artificial intelligence systems based on what people are currently doing on Threads.
To ensure that topics are not duplicated or confusing, Threads’ content experts “review topics selected by AI systems.” “We will take from this test and iterate over time,” Mosseri added.
When running at full power in Threads, this add-on provides a more complete experience – similar to X. Additionally, recent reports suggesting Threads’ gradual return to username acquisition indicate that this improvement is playing a more significant role. helping people position themselves according to trends.
